With a background in Chemistry and Food Science from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and The Ohio State University, Christian has focused his career on the analysis, extraction, and utilization of natural ingredients for both their bioactive and organoleptic properties. For the last five years, he brought his experience to the cannabis industry first as VP of Science & Technology at Cannabistry, one of the nation’s leading cannabis research & development organizations. In 2020 he joined Sonoma Lab Works as President where he guides the company’s phenomenal clients toward sustainable and consistent success while ensuring the safety of products in the California market.
One of the most esteemed cannabis advocates in California, Jenkins brings over 20 years of experience in legislative, public affairs, and political campaigns at the federal, state, and local levels. Prior to becoming a lobbyist, Jenkins served as Chief of Staff to State Senator Lou Correa, Legislative and Public Affairs Officer for Solano County, and the Director of the League of California Cities’ Grassroots Program.
While serving as a Chief of Staff in the Legislature, Jenkins drafted one of the first bills to create a licensing and regulatory framework for medicinal cannabis. Senate Bill 1262 (Correa) was the first bill to pass the State Senate with bipartisan support and be endorsed by an unprecedented coalition, including local government, law enforcement, the medical community, and the cannabis industry. SB 1262 has been referred to as the “blueprint” for the licensing and regulatory framework in effect today.
Jenkins continues to lobby on the front lines of cannabis regulatory and legislative reform as the state grapples with major issues impacting the industry, including agency consolidation, tax reform, and provisional licensing.
Poseidon is one of the longest running funds in the cannabis industry.
With over ten years' experience in investing and finance, Paxhia has developed a deep understanding of individual company analysis, portfolio construction, and risk mitigation. Since 2012, he has dedicated his investment focus primarily to the cannabis industry. Given the limited amount of information in this emerging vertical, the lack of institutional research, and relative industry immaturity, Paxhia embraces an active approach of working closely with companies. He utilizes a “boots on the ground” methodology to better understand individual companies and the industry.
Through his extensive travel across the U.S. and Canada and by reviewing hundreds of business plans and overseeing several existing cannabis investments, Paxhia has developed Poseidon’s investment methodology tailored specific to the business of cannabis. Poseidon’s proprietary process is driven by time spent in the industry and the considerable amount of data collected over the last several years. Paxhia has created frameworks for analysis depending on subsector, company stage, and participation across the capital spectrum through the company's database of contacts, valuations, metrics, and other relevant factors.
